Dr. Matt Avery

I was born and raised in rural Australia and grew up on a beef farm, neighboured by dairy farms.I became hooked on vet science after only my first week of practical work (at 15 years of age) and still think it is the worlds greatest job.My passion for the job is only equalled by my love for the outdoors (with farming a quiet ambition once my vet days are over).

I graduated from Sydney University in 1996, and after a year in Western Australia in a mixed practice, I spent another year of study doing an Internship in Cattle Medicine & Surgery at Sydney University (and was asked to stay on as a resident).

During my OE, I was lucky enough to find my wife Natalie at the "Running of the Bulls” in Pamplona, Spain. We travelled extensively, working around the UK and Australia before heading to NZ with our 1 month old daughter.I joined the practice in 2005 and became a director in 2006.

I am based in the Waiuku Clinic and enjoy living and working within the local community.
